As a child I sat next to my aunt and watched her spin raw cotton into silky threads. The cotton was so soft. I still have the gabi (cotton blanket) that she gave to me 15 years ago and it is as soft and even whiter than the day she gave it to me. It is easy to wash, by machine or by hand and very warm, better than any other blanket I own

Experts believe Cotton draws heat away from the skin and keeps the body cool and dry in humid weather, but in cold temperatures it can provide insulation, keeping the cold and wet out. These attributes make cotton clothing appropriate for all seasons around.

In Ethiopia it is common to use this very breathable 100% cotton fabric to wrap newborn babies in order to protect their skin from irritation.
